Canyonland, a band of Atlanta friends formed in October 2021 out of pandemic boredom, plays the greatest hits of 1970’s Laurel Canyon, California. Because of it’s easy SoCal vibe and cheap rent, Laurel Canyon became the music mecca of the late 60’s and 70’s where talented twenty- something singer songwriters converged and together created a new music genre called country rock. Some lived together, wrote together, sang and performed together and slept together… no excuses needed, as it was on the heels of the 60’s “free love” movement.
If you like artists Linda Ronstadt, Carly Simon, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon, Lowell George, etc… you’ll love Canyonland’s versions of these classic singer songwriter’s hit songs. Expect 3 and 4 part harmonies, mandolin, bass, acoustic and electric guitar, drums and your favorite California country songs of the 70's. Canyonland also performs as a duo, trio, and quartet. Canyonland is Michelle Malone, Doug Kees, Nelson Nolen, Mark Lehi Jones and Mike Rizzi. Together members of this Supergroup have performed with the likes of Gregg Allman (Allman Brothers), Jackson Browne, Indigo Girls, ZZ Top, John Mayer, The Romantics, Icons of Rock, The Outfield, Ed Roland (Collective Soul), John Driscoll Hopkins (Zak Brown Band), Kristian Bush (Sugarland), to name a few. Come sing along to all your favorite songs, and party likes it’s 1977 with the supergroup, Canyonland.
