Critically acclaimed, award-winning, Contemporary Jazz vocalist, guitarist, and composer, Woody Russell, melds Jazz, R&B, and Folk into his sophisticated genre-blurring sound. It's a specialized musical niche that only a handful of artists have occupied where Jazz meets Singer-Songwriter (think Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Gregory Porter, Liz Wright, etc). One could look back to the origins of the American Songbook and select 70's era singer-songwriters, but Russell's view is decidedly more contemporary.
